A worldwide favorite, this design excels in small to medium surf but still rides and responds like a conventional shortboard. Al considers this the best small wave shortboard he has ever designed. It should be ridden 2” to 3” shorter and 1/4” to 1/2” wider than your normal shortboard. We can build the Flyer up to 7’6” for you big guys.

You want to maintain the same speed and maneuverability you have on your shortboard in good waves but in small surf. Can be ridden by all styles of surfer.

MODEL DESCRIPTION
Widely considered the most versatile shortboard we make. Full rails allow for floatation in small waves while the swallow tail keeps it solid in overhead surf. Order it 1/8” thinner than your normal shortboard. Also commonly ridden an inch shorter.

WHO SHOULD RIDE THIS BOARD
If you can only have one board for all types of waves from real small to well over-head, this is your board. Can be ridden by all styles of surfer.

MODEL DESCRIPTION
A favorite with surfers on tour for riding small to medium waves: Flat entry rocker, increased tail kick, full rail, and single concave.
The M-4 has a wider nose and tail, so ride this one an inch shorter and a hair wider if you surf mostly in small waves.
The M-4 is considered one of the more forgiving boards in the line.

WHO SHOULD RIDE THIS BOARD
You surf with a balance of power and precision and in a wide variety of wave conditions. Works with either front footed or back footed surfers.

The yardstick of the shortboard line and CI's longest standing shorty: low entry rocker with accelerated rocker out the tail. Offering a forgiving and responsive feel, the M-X works well with all types of surfers, but best for those who like to trim off the front foot and turn off the back foot.

WHO SHOULD RIDE THIS BOARD
If you feel you drive more on your forward foot the lower rocker will work well for you. Quick turns in the pocket off the back foot.

Originally developed with Bobby Martinez, the M-BM is now our most popular shortboard for advanced surfers. The M-BM has a full rail and plenty of volume in the nose and tail to make it user friendly Likes to be surfed vertical and in the pocket. Relatively flat under the front foot to a double concave/vee combo out the back.

MODEL DESCRIPTION
A high performance shortboard designed for the surfer who wants or needs more volume: flat deck and a full rail. The bottom is comprised of a single to double concave for a loose feel. Order from 6'6” to 8'0” with center widths from 19 1/2” to 22”+ and thickness from 2 1/2” to 3”+ .

This is not a prop. This is a high performance shortboard for the heavier, more mature surfer.

The K-board for 2008 incorporates Kelly’s new “K-thumb”, a tail derived from refining several of Kelly’s past favorite tail templates. Bottom is single concave, low entry rocker, and comes standard with fcs K.3 fins.

THE KSMALL 08

MODEL DESCRIPTION
For 2008 Kelly jumped over to a new tweaked version of Flyer rocker. We added the Ksmall Thumb to complete a board that became Kelly’s small wave favorite. Substantial rocker, slight single concave forward flattening out the back. Kelly's Ksmall is the the board he rode to victory at the 2007 WCT Trestles contest.

Ksmall Quad: For the quad version Kelly prefers a swallow tail with vee out the back.

WHO SHOULD RIDE THIS BOARD
You want to get over the flat sections on a wave and still be able to turn in the pocket. Works for all styles of surfer.

THE KSTEP-UP

A proven travel board. This is the board Kelly has turned to for the last few years as a 6’3” or 6’6” at places like the Mentawais and Teahupoo. When the waves get a little bigger or powerful, but you don’t quite need a gun, this is the board.

You are spending time in good surf that doesn't require a gun but is a little too juicy for your shortboard.

THE PROTON

MODEL DESCRIPTION
This is the board that AL and Dane designed during his 2007 WCT qualification year. While traveling and surfing various types of waves, Dane found The Proton suited his surfing in all conditions. Original and truly unique from any other board in our line. This board has continuous rocker throughout. The bottom consists of a deep single concave, and full rails. Dane normally rides a 2 3/8” MBM and orders his Protons at 2 ¼”, so order yours a 1/8” thinner.

WHO SHOULD RIDE THIS BOARD
Dane is a front footed surfer; he drives off the front foot for speed and transitions to his back foot for turns. Designed for one of the worlds most progressive surfers means the Proton has to be ridden aggressively.

THE WHITE DOVE

A high performance shortboard designed to fit Tim Curran’s innovative, aerial surfing approach. The White Dove has extreme rocker with a flip both in the nose and tail. The bottom contours are single concave from the nose to the trailing fin. Rails are slightly tapered and the tail is pulled- in which makes for a high performance shortie.

THE POD

MODEL DESCRIPTION
A requirement in Dane's and Kelly's board bags, the Pod is built to fly, it will position itself into the smallest ramp and allow for a technical launch. Deep concaves with a foiled nose and a swallow tail keep the Pod lively and maintains its high performance. The “snub” nose puts volume forward, allowing for maximum planing and wave catching. Ride this board 8” shorter, about 1 1/2” wider and about 1/8” thicker.

A short and stubby tri-fin: the biscuit design was developed with Rob Machado. Like Rob, the Biscuit rides free and easy in the smallest surf and catches waves like boards a foot longer. Order your biscuit 8” to 10” shorter, 1” to 2” wider and ½ to ¾” thicker than your shortboard.

You are open to drawing new lines with the shortest rail possible. Everyone should ride this board at least twice.

Originally designed for contest surfing in small or weak surf: wide tail for maximum speed over flat spots. Entry rocker is substantial with a single concave running the length of the board and a flat panel exiting off a winged swallow with low tail rocker. Order the Sashimi 2” to 4” shorter than your normal board and 1/4” to 1/2” wider.

If you have to ride really small, gutless surf, but you still want to go fast, this is the board for you. Or if you live on the Right Coast.

THE XM TOW

MODEL DESCRIPTION
A progressive tow board for all types of conditions. Speed oriented and best suited for carving on large open faces. Most commonly ridden 5'6” to 6'0”. The straightness of the rail make the X-M ride longer so ride it shorter. We recommend you order this as a quad setup with G-10 material future fins. Stock weight 10 lbs. Comes with inserts for regular and goofy stances, as well as additional inserts for weights in larger surf if desired. One set of Da Kine Primo footstraps included.

A fish by definition, with two fins, a deep swallow tail, resin tints and polish gloss. Designed not just as an exercise in nostalgia, but to be user friendly. Al has put his experience and input from the world's best surfers to make an incredibly fast and fun board. Fins have cant and bottom is a light single to double concave to allow for maneuverability uncommon to traditional fish design. Full rails provide max volume for small waves. THE MG

This is for bigger waves requiring a board from 7’3” to 8’4”: It has a flatter deck for improved paddling and the thickness is carried out to the rails and then tucked for a positive feeling in heavy conditions. The bottom contour is flat in the center flowing to flat-panel vee out the back one-third of the board.

This is a performance hybrid that caters to the widest possible type and size of surfer and the widest range of wave conditions. Not to be confused with a funshape type board. Paddles like a funshape, but surfs like a shortboard. Available in either a squash or round pin, most common sizes are from 6'10” to 8'0".

MODEL DESCRIPTION
A good wave catcher, this mini-longboard bridges the gap between the performance oriented M-13 hybrid model and our longboard line. Low entry rocker for trimming and enough tail rocker to stay high performance. Bottom goes from flat entry with concave, to vee out the tail. Al suggests riding this as a thruster, available from 7'0” to 8'11”. Can also be ordered as a single box with side biters.

THE CADDI

MODEL DESCRIPTION
Stand-Up Paddle Board is designed for good stability for open water paddling but still allows easy maneuverability in the surf. Comes standard as box + biters fin setup. For 08 Al has added rocker that enhances maneuverability but still allows a nice clean track while paddling and surfing. Standard dims in 9' to 12'. Comes standard with traction.

You want to spend time in the water even on the smallest days and get a core workout with long flat water paddles.

THE QUONG
THE BLACK BEAUTY

MODEL DESCRIPTION
This quad longboard has a fair amount or rocker, with deep single concave in the nose leading to a double concave with vee out the tail. The “Quong’s” rails are round in the middle of the board and tapered to a 50/50 rail in the nose. The tail is pulled in to a tight swallow tail. The “quong” comes standard with a set of quad fins plus a center box for all the options.

The longboarder who wants the added feel of speed and maneuverability that a quad setup brings to a longboard.

The Strange, developed by Al Merrick, provides for quick acceleration when walking the nose and trimming. It features a deep concave in the nose which runs to a rolled vee out the tail and pinched 50/50 rails. It gives you that nostalgic feel that you've been searching for and is a favorite of our team inbetween competitions. An all around fun board.

MODEL DESCRIPTION
Lower rocker offspring of the custom only H-2000 teardrop outline. The lower entry allows for easier paddling and glide into waves as well as nose riding in small surf than our H-2000 did. Comes standard with a single stringer. Recommended as a single fin with side biters.
